The country's top cycling stores and insurance companies choose us because we provide the best service, absolute quality, fantastic turnaround times, and we stand behind our workmanship with a full guarantee.

Many people do not realise that you can safely repair carbon bikes, and at a fraction of the cost of replacement. We employ methods developed in the high-performance marine and aerospace industries, combining them with heat bonding equipment and composite curing ovens under vacuum.

A major difference that sets us apart from the rest is that we use only pre-preg carbon fibre, as this is what your frame is made from, and thus we can accurately match the fibre orientation and make-up, which, in turn, will maintain the look and performance of the frame when it was new.

What can be fixed

Technically, anything can be fixed with the right equipment, technical know-how, and time. However, there are some limitations we consider before making a decision on repair. Can we guarantee the safety, performance, and economic viability to make the repair? If we can answer 'yes' to each of these, then yes, we can proceed.

What we can repair:

  • Chain stays

  • Seat stays

  • De-lamination

  • Blunt impact

  • Crush damage

  • Broken derailleur hangers

  • Spinning Rivnuts

  • Worn drop-outs

  • Loose BB shells (dependant on sleeve design & construction)

  • Paint touch ups

There are some items we do not repair as we deem these critical items where repair alone cannot replicate the small tolerances needed to match those of the original tooling.

What we don't repair:

  • Handle bars

  • Seat posts

  • Forks

  • Drop outs

  • Wheels (dependent on design of wheel & damage)

If unsure feel free to give us a call

NDT Testing + Inspection Report

For peace of mind following an accident or event, we can provide you with the same service and reporting that we provide to all of New Zealand's top insurance companies.

Most damaged frames we receive are obvious, but there can be hidden faults that aren't detectable to the naked eye, hidden below the surface after a crash or impact. Delamination, voids, or stress fractures are hard to detect without testing with the right equipment and knowledge

We use a combination of techniques in the course of putting together a report which includes:

  • Ultra-sound

  • Endoscopic internal cameras

  • Acoustic testing

  • Penetrative dyes

The nature of custom work is that each and every job is different from the last; therefore, we charge on an hourly basis. To provide some ballpark ideas, however, see the guide below. These are estimated price ranges only, and all jobs are invoiced according to actual time spent and products used.

To get an estimate for an idea, simply send us a friendly email along with some details and examples of what you're after, or call our toll-free number at 0800 4 VELOS for a friendly chat.

We also offer a full-blown custom design service, which you can find in our design tab on the main menu.

Design Service

We live in a world where mass production and limited options are the norm. Our very existence is based on defying that trend and providing you, our customer, with customised, unlimited choices.

Our expertise revolves around creating one-of-a-kind bike designs and illustrations. These are works of art that no one else on the road has, making you stand out in the crowd. Velos has the extended capability to create unique artworks in-house, as well as working in collaboration with some of the most creative minds in the field.

  1. A 1hr phone consultation to talk over your design brief. You provide us your ideas and examples to work with or we can guide you as well.

  2. We take your ideas and inspiration from our mood board created in step 1 and turn these into three differing concepts to present to you for selection.

  3. You have narrowed down the concepts into one final design by now in which to refine to bring your vision to life. Our package allows for one final revision of the scheme to tweak to your liking.

  4. We present the final set of drawings to you in a file to print or keep as a memento. We are now ready to pull the trigger on your project.

Other Design Services

Our Process

We don't paint over factory paint like others do. This can add weight and risk your new paint job reacting with the paint system below.

We also avoid removing the original paint with sanders, a method known to others. This can result in sanding through layers of carbon. Each layer on your frame has been engineered to be there, and sanding through these layers can compromise your frame's integrity and your safety.

Instead, we use media blasting, developed along the lines of that used in the aerospace industry, and further refined to suit our own application. We built a custom system and then spent over 12 months refining it and trialling various media before coming to our final secret blends to remove the paint from your frame quickly and efficiently without damaging the substrate and removing any carbon. Even those hard-to-reach spots on a frame can be accessed with zero removal of the surrounding carbon.

The only way to provide the best paint job is to start with a 100% stripped substrate.

Benefits of this:

Best possible paint adhesion

No risk of reactions between different paint systems

No added weight (it will be lighter)

No risk of sanding through carbon laminate

It's fast!
